My name is Nicky Mee and I am an Australian children’s book author. I live in Western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and love my country, my community and my family. My first book is called ‘Hooroo, ta-ta, bye-bye’ in the series ‘StoriesByMee’ and I cannot wait for you to read it!
My husband, Brad, is the amazing human being who motivated me to publish my children’s picture books, which have been inspired by my beautiful family. I am so excited and thrilled to be able to write stories for all Australian children to read aloud with their loved ones. My books are generally focused on the positive and happy interactions with the simple things in life, mostly through the eyes of a child.
I hope you enjoy ‘Hooroo, ta-ta, bye-bye’ by Author Nicky Mee and are looking forward to the next books in my book series ‘StoriesByMee’.

Go to ShopCourtney is only 3 years old but demonstrates resilience, strength, responsibility and respect in every aspect of her life. Sometimes it’s hard to say goodbye, but at the end of the day, the moon will shine bright and the morning will bring another happy day. Read how Courtney travels through her day of excitement and sweet goodbyes.
This is an adorable little phrase my daughter, Courtney, uses to say goodbye to all the things in her life that she loves on a daily basis. From her orange fish in the lounge room, to her nana in the afternoon and even her blankie ‘Bibi’, who she sleeps with at night.
It’s a book about resilience, strength, and the power to deal with the changes and endings in the busy life of a 3 year old child. Children between the ages of 0-8 will enjoy this rollicking rhyming story and parent and caregivers will love reading it with them.

Courtney loves her family and has realised that her dad wears the same clothes every day. This confuses her so she starts to question him repeatedly throughout the day. Dad's response is vague, but she doesn’t give up with her questions and curiosity.
Read along as Courtney (and her little sister Alyssa) find out why dad loves wearing the same blue shirt every day.
The book, 'My Fair Dinkum Dad', touches on themes such as family, making connections, curiosity and acceptance with plenty more Australian references throughout.

“Hooroo, ta-ta, bye-bye” is a great Australian picture book. This relatable story follows what is a normal day in the life of a young child from getting up in the morning, going to daycare, through to going to bed at the end of her day. It opens up an opportunity to discuss daily routines and also tackles issues of anxiety and being resilient when things like saying ‘goodbye’ may seem scary. The ideas are well thought out and the illustrations are gorgeous. I look forward to having this book in our school library.
“Hooroo, ta-ta, bye-bye!” is a wonderful Australian picture book following a little girl through her day and all the goodbyes she has to give to her family members. A wonderful story that can help and support little ones coping with anxiety around their own goodbyes with relatable scenes and supportive routines through classic Aussie language. Highly recommend adding this one to your collection.
'From the moment you begin reading, you are drawn into the engaging Australiana themed storyline, filled with native flora and fauna. This beautiful text encapsulates the essence of a daughter and her true-blue Australian father. Follow along as Courtney ventures from the aquarium to the backyard, where Dad’s iconic singlet becomes the star of every page. ‘Stretched across his belly, the faded bluey-grey’, reaches every reader and indicates, it’s here to stay. A comforting tale that will resonate with everyone, building a sense of belonging and highlighting the family bonds within our daily interactions'.
My daughter and I had a great time reading ‘Hooroo, ta-ta, bye-bye’. It was filled with great Australian cultural references and Aussie characters. It reminded me of growing up as a kid in the great land of Australia where ‘Hooroo’ was and still is, often said to everyone passing by. This amazing book also reminded my 9-year-old daughter of her favourite childhood saying, which was ‘See you later, Alligator ‘. We both loved reading ‘Hooroo, ta-ta, bye-bye’ and are looking forward to reading more books in the series of ‘Storiesbymee’.
After seeing this book for the first time I thought it was such a great and fun book. Well thought out and great images! It will get both the kids and adults involved. I love the idea of having a Blue Tongue Lizard in each scene of the book also. As the kids continue to look for it!
‘My Fair Dinkum Dad’ is such a relatable children’s picture book. It has beautifully illustrated Aussie characters, fun rhyming text, and a wonderful message about the importance of spending time with family. I would definitely recommend this book to families all around Australia'.
